Subscriber adds to CEO praise for Code

Code subscriber Andrew Ferris is making the headlines following his recent public statement in support of the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair.

A long established independent garage operator, Ferris Brothers in Cardiff, Andrew is a keen supporter of the Code and what it has helped his business achieve.

In a press release issued by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, Andrew's comments confirm that individual businesses are benefiting from their subscription to the Code on a daily basis - and like Andrew they're not afraid to admit that it has helped them standardise their approach to customer service and add to bottom line improvements.

Andrew's vocal support compliments Consumer Minister Kevin Brennan acknowledging the successful first year operation of the Code. But the Government Minister also makes the clearest indication to date that if more independent garage operators like Andrew Ferris don't sign up - we may be faced with further legislative burden upon the garage sector.

Let's avoid having to even discuss this matter, if you're an independent garage operator like Andrew sign up today and demonstrate to the Government that the industry is prepared to self regulate and look after its own affairs.

Just look at the support coming from the main automotive trade association bosses within the same press release.

Rob Foulston, CEO RMI "The RMI is facilitating membership of the Code through a discounted pricing structure and membership via the RMI's own membership department."

Douglas Robertson, CEO SMTA "Garages have the choice of whether to sign up or not, but we are fully supportive of it and believe it to be a good Code that brings benefits both to the customers and those businesses that do sign up."

Paul Everitt, CEO SMMT “The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair gives the best opportunity yet for garages owners to clean up their trade’s reputation. Most garages already exceed the minimum standards set by the Code but by signing up and displaying the logo they can help motorists identify the better businesses and drive out the rogue traders.”

Richard Edy, MD NTDA “The NTDA is totally committed to improving standards across our membership. We fully support this Code of Practice and actively encourage our members to embrace it. It provides a very cost-effective way to let the public know that you have all the necessary consumer protection procedures in place.
