New Car Code - joins Motor Codes Ltd

This week, with the support of the Consumer Minister, Gareth Thomas MP, we announced that the long established and OFT Approved New Car Code joins Motor Codes Ltd and further bolsters our position of providing business and consumers with consistent self regulation for the automotive sector.

The Motor Industry Code of Practice for New Cars now sits next to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair, providing a centrally operated 'one stop shop' for motorists looking for reputable business operators, advice and dispute resolution services. Clearly a significant moment for the industry and Motor Codes. Making good progress and strengthening the Motor Industry Codes brand, which is becoming a sign of reassurance for motorists - don't risk a rip off and look out for the logo below - in a garage or new car for now, more to follow soon.

Caffyns are in!

Good work by the team at south coast dealer group Caffyns, their 24 strong dealer network are all signed up and making the most of their Code subscription.

We have just press released it, naturally, but they have also syndicated news around their local media to get themselves and the Code some local awareness. Cracking idea and the kind of approach I've come to expect from Caffyns, no half measures here - they said they'd support it and support it they are - thanks all.

Lloyds TSB Autolease - welcome!

It keeps on getting better! We've just announced that Lloyds TSB Autolease, who operate a rental fleet of over 350,000 vehicles are including the Service and Repair Code within their supplier agreements.

This means the network of franchised and independent garages that they use UK wide to maintain their vehicles will be asked to commit to the Code and prove that they are committed to providing minimum standards of customer service - see the press release below.

Web usage statistics are a funny thing. Hits, unique users, bounce rate, visits, as many monitoring stats as anyone could ever need to make even the most unpopular site appear busy.

I tend to rely on how many visitors we have on the Motor Industry Codes website, and as you can see from the visual we are experiencing steady and significant growth. We are currently receiving around 30,000 visits per month and around 85% of these are from new visitors, which tells me we are making good progress in making people aware of the Service and Repair Code.

Around 10% of people visiting the site are those using the Garage Finder facility, so that means that presently around 3,000 people a month are looking for a Code subscribing garage to carry out work on their car - have a look

Clearly, this is an excellent promotional tool for subscribers and equally, a great means by which motorists can find a responsible garage operator in their area.

We're continually improving the website and the visitor numbers continue to grow, as they do the Garage Finder will become more widely used and motorists will be sourcing local garages that subscribe to our code to do their business with - because people like to do business with people they can trust, simple as that.
